Hands Against Hatred

In October 2021, a man was viciously attacked simply because he was holding hands with another man. As a proud adopted Brummie and a LGBTQI+ ally, I wanted to use my skills for good.

The concept used the very thing that had sparked such violence, but to show strength. When combined with the hashtag, it invited people to show solidarity and show this city that there is no place for homophobia.

Locally, it went viral with 24M views and 167K shares, and although it wasn’t created for clicks or even a client, it’s something I’m very proud of.

It’s won me several awards (Global Social Media Award, European Social Media Award, and UK Content Award), but more importantly, it showed me the power of what the right message at the right time can do.
